PARMALEE SHARES MUSIC VIDEO FOR TOP 5 HIT “TAKE MY NAME”

Band Releases “Wedding Version” of Romantic Ode for Fans

Platinum-selling band Parmalee yesterday shared the music video for their Top 5-and-climbing hit, “Take My Name” via YouTube Premiere, following the Friday release of “Take My Name (Wedding Version). “Take My Name,” which is “essentially a musical marriage proposal” (The Boot), became an early fan favorite after being teased on TikTok (before the song was even released). Fans went wild, clamoring to get their hands on the song to use as their wedding song. Always one to take care of their fans, Parmalee removed the catchy percussion to create a softer, piano-focused “Wedding Version” for such occasions—and has even surprised a few couples, crashing their weddings to sing them the song.

Garnering more than 135 million global on-demand streams the song has raced up the Country charts, outpacing the band’s previous single, the multinational No. 1 smash, “Just the Way” with Blanco Brown. Popping up all over TikTok, creators have been playing the song over proposal/wedding videos and sparked a trend of using the sound and writing “If your man doesn’t make you feel this way then what are you doing?” over video.

“From the jump, the fans have really latched onto this song in such an amazing, lifechanging way—our fans have been the reason for so many of our own major milestones, so it means that much more to us that folks are our song for their proposals and weddings and allowing us to be a part of those major moments in their lives,” said Matt Thomas of Parmalee “We wanted to pay tribute to the fans who have been on this journey with us since the beginning so in the music video you’ll see a story of love and loyalty unfold across the years—but don’t expect to see any weddings or proposals—the fan created-videos far exceed anything we could depict. We love watching them.”

Filmed in Gallatin, TN and directed by Shane Drake, the heartwarming music video follows the love story of the protagonist (played by Parmalee front man, Matt Thomas), starting in middle school all the way through adulthood. The video features kids from a local school, an original 1968 Mustang Shelby GT 350, appearances from the band and a lot of heart.

The tune was written by frontman Matt Thomas, along with Ashley Gorley (who has garnered over 50 No.1 songs at Country radio), Track45 member Ben Johnson, and the song’s producer David Fanning.

The tune comes from their recently released album For You which was distributed via BBR Music Group/Stoney Creek Records. The 13-track project has garnered critical acclaim with American Songwriter praising it as “authentically real, genuinely inspired,” Sounds Like Nashville predicting it to be the “next big move in their musical journey” and Billboard saying “Parmalee finds itself in the enviable position of being able to tap into multiple audiences.” Produced by David Fanning, the album mixes a contemporary sound with classic ingredients and is filled with larger-than-life Pop hooks, southern storytelling, and the amplified attitude of Rock ‘n Roll. Primarily written by Parmalee lead singer Matt Thomas, For You draws from personal experiences to speak directly to the heart of their fans, honing in on that connection to make for their most harmonious project yet.
