BBR Music Group/Stoney Creek Records’ artist and former police officer Frank Ray was a guest on FOX News’ Sunday Night in America With Trey Gowdy last night (5/14) during National Police Week to discuss his recently-launched mental health initiative for first-responders – FRAY.  Standing for First Responders mentAl claritY, FRAY provides first responders with the necessary tools they need for improved mental health due to the intense and sensitive nature of their jobs. Last night, the CMT Listen Up Artist, Amazon Music USA “Artist to Watch,” and Pandora “Artist to Watch” reflected on his time in law enforcement and discusses the importance of first responders, music being his therapeutic outlet and removing the negative stigma behind seeking professional help when it comes to mental health.

“Conversations about mental health have always been a taboo subject in the first responder community,” says Frank. “First responders are notorious for compartmentalizing the trauma they witness every day, so I’m glad we’re moving the conversation forward into a normal topic of conversation for this community of brave men and women who protect us. Providing the resources for them from like-minded organizations and people like me who have walked a mile in their shoes helps to pave the way for a more engaging conversation.”

Born from Ray’s recent visit to Washington D.C. with the Metropolitan Police Academy, the event was originally planned to be simple, with short remarks, photographs and autographs, until it quickly became a cause-related vision. No one better understands the trials and tribulations first responders endure than Ray himself. Serving ten years as an officer, music is his escape, and this initiative is his opportunity to give back to those who serve.

With his label-debut, self-titled album, Frank Ray, coming July 7 and his cheeky, ”kiss-off song” (Billboard) “Somebody Else’s Whiskey” currently climbing the county radio charts, the former police officer continues to visit local stations at every tour stop while he’s out on the road with Old Dominion and beyond.
