BMG AND BBR MUSIC GROUP SCORE A U.S. NUMBER ONE ALBUM WITH JASON ALDEAN’S REARVIEW TOWN

Los Angeles, CA – April 23, 2018 – BMG and BBR Music Group have officially scored the Number One album in the U.S. with the Billboard 200 chart-topping debut of Jason Aldean’s Rearview Town (Broken Bow/BMG). The acclaimed set tallied a remarkable 183,000 equivalent albums in its first week and is the first country album to lay claim to the top spot in 2018.

Aldean was recently awarded a historic third consecutive Entertainer of the Year at the 53rd ACM Awards in Las Vegas – the evening’s highest honor – and the awards’ first three-peat in a decade.

Jon Loba, EVP BBR Music Group, said “Having worked with Jason from album one, I am always amazed that with each new project he delivers on fan expectations, while at the same time continuing to evolve and develop new sounds that drive the genre forward. There are a few artists who can do that over the course of three to four albums, but it’s very rare for an artist to pull that off over eight albums and continue being commercially successful. Jason is in rarified air in that respect.”

Zach Katz, President, Repertoire & Marketing, BMG US, said, “Jason Aldean is an incredible force in music. His drive, determination, and creativity make his achievements limitless. This is an enormous accomplishment for an artist truly at the top of his game. We congratulate and thank the entire team at BBR, BMG, and Maverick Management for their tireless efforts and support. One year on together and it’s been nothing short of an exciting and inspiring partnership.”

Following the BMG acquisition of BBR Music Group in 2017, an extraordinary amount of milestones produced, over the past year, in both the US and abroad includes:

  • Dustin Lynch Current Mood debuts Top 10 on the Billboard 200, yielding two Country Airplay chart-toppers ‘Small Town Boy’ and ‘Seein’ Red’.  Both songs would go on to top the Billboard Country Airplay chart with ‘Small Town Boy’ now certified Platinum in both the US and Canada, while ‘Seein’ Red’ is certified Gold in both the US and Canada. Current Mood would also hit Number One on Billboard Canada Country chart and debut Top 5 on the Australian Country Albums chart.
  • Lindsay Ell’s much anticipated debut album The Project hits Number One on the Neilsen Soundscan Current Country Albums chart (8/22/17). Her latest single ‘Criminal’ recently topped the Canadian Country radio chart, making Ell the first Canadian female artist to top the chart in a decade (4/9/18)

  • Kid Rock’s Sweet Southern Sugar debuts at Number One on both the Billboard Independent Albums and Top Rock Albums charts (11/14/17). The album has spent 13 weeks inside the Top 10 of the Country Album sales chart.
  • Granger Smith’s When The Good Guys Win debuts at number two on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart (11/7/17). The set produces the Top 15 hit single ‘Happens Like That’.

The US Number One album immediately follows the UK Number One album debut of Kylie Minogue’s latest release Golden, which was preceded by BMG’s first UK Number One single, Lil Dicky’s ‘Freaky Friday’.
Previous BMG titles topping the Billboard 200 include Janet Jackson Unbreakable and blink-182 California.
